Biography

Julia Miller, a Polish-born pianist, is a distinguished graduate of the Music Academy of Lodz, where she honed her craft under the guidance of renowned professors (inter allia: Prof. Anna Wesolowska- Firlej, Prof. Boguslaw Pikala and Prof. Cezary Sanecki)

As a finalist in several prestigious competitions and a performer with her own trio, Julia quickly established herself in Poland’s most esteemed venues. Her talent and dedication have since propelled her onto the international stage, where she has thrived as both a soloist and a collaborative artist.

After a successful period in Dublin, Julia relocated to Malta in 2012, where she quickly gained recognition as both an accomplished pianist and a sought-after accompanist for vocalists. Her collaborations with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Kor Malta, and the Manoel Theatre Youth Opera, as well as her performances at prominent festivals like the Malta Baroque Festival and the Malta International Spring Festival, have solidified her reputation in the Maltese music scene.

In 2019, Julia launched the “Julia Miller Plays” recital series, showcasing her passion for a wide-ranging classical piano repertoire, with a particular emphasis on Romantic works. In addition to her performing career, Julia is a dedicated educator, teaching piano and chamber music at the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School and the Malta School of Music.

In 2022, Julia spearheaded the “Valletta-Varsavja-Vjenna” project, where she performed Mozart’s D Minor Piano Concerto alongside the Apertus Quartet and premiered a specially commissioned piano quintet by Karl Fiorini. This project was supported by Arts Council Malta and the Polish Embassy in Valletta.

Currently pursuing a DMus at the University of Malta, Julia’s research focuses on female composers from the late 19th century in the USA and Sweden. In 2024, she gave several chamber music performances in Malta and Poland and made her debut with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16, under the baton of Maestro Michael Laus.
