Piano and violin recitals

In 2024, Julia began a fruitful collaboration with Polish violinist Justyna Zanko. Together, they performed in both Poland and Malta, presenting a varied and captivating repertoire, often with a Polish twist. Notable highlights include two concerts in Lublin as part of the prestigious “Classics in the Crown” series, a recital at the Malta Society of Arts, and their participation in the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo. They also performed at the TEDx conference in Lublin and gave a concert in Naples, Italy, as winners of the SEA-EU competition.

In their concerts, Julia and Justyna consistently strive to introduce Polish music to their audiences, showcasing the richness and diversity of Polandโ€™s musical heritage. Whether through works by Wieniawski, Szymanowski, or lesser-known composers, they aim to promote Polish culture and create a deeper connection with listeners across different countries.

June Blossoms

Four women musicians joined forces to present the Maltese public a concert of Romantic classical music with a difference. The music that was presented included the songs of two women composers: the American Amy Beach and the Swede Valborg Aulin, also a contemporary of Beach. The songs were performed by renowned soprano Andriana Yordanova with the international pianist Julia Miller on the piano.

Together with flutist Clara Galea, Julia Miller also performed the exquisite โ€˜Undineโ€™ sonata for Piano and Flute (op. 167) of Carl Reinecke. This sonata is considered one of the major works that exposes the versatility of flute written in the nineteenth century. The concert ended with Johannes Brahmsโ€™ well known Sonata for Piano and Violin n. 3 in d minor, played by violinist Agnieszka Kuzma with Julia Miller on the piano. The concert was Juliaโ€™s first exam -recital as a part of Doctorate in Music in Piano Performance course at the University of Malta.

Valletta-Varsavja-Vienna:

Bringing three musical cultures together

Valletta-Varsavja-Vjenna: Bringing together three musical cultures, where Malta based Polish pianist Julia Miller, Polish based Apertus Quartet and Maltese composer Karl Fiorini, created an original musical performance ranging through three different eras – from the classical to the contemporary – within three different musical cultures.

The project included a Malta premiere of Polish romantic composer Moniuszko’s String Quartet no.1 in D-Minor and world premiere of Piano Quintet by Maltese contemporary composer Karl Fiorini. The performance was opened with Mozart’s one of only two minor piano concertos, Piano Concerto in D-Minor, arranged for a piano quintet – in itself a Malta premiere.

This project was supported by Arts Council Malta and Embassy of Poland in Valletta.
